Advantages

The "alpha500" is a universal delivery, which can deliver everything from signatures to spine stitched brochures.  This delivery was developed as a direct result of our bookbinding department's experiences with existing delivery systems (vertical stacker deliveries and pile deliveries).  During the course of countless discussions with bookbinding colleagues, the problems with these types of delivery were reduced to three crucial points:

  • delivering without marking
  • processing of multiple-up works
  • delivering heavy piles

The alpha500 has succeeded in compensating for the problems found in existing delivery systems.  Furthermore, the alpha500 contributes to the continued streamlining of the production process.

How it works

The alpha500 infeed height is adjustable from 40 cm (16“) to 105 cm (42“). The products - up to three streams - are transported directly from the folding machine or saddle stitcher by round infeed belts and are measured electronically. Bad products are automatically ejected. Good products go through the pressing unit, where they are compressed with pre- and main pressing rollers with a maximum pressure of 3.5t.  The products are then shingled and transported to the magazine.  They are collected, counted and perfectly jogged into stacks. Once the stack has reached the pre-selected amount, the shingled stream is temporarily interrrupted and the stack is pushed to the side (right or left) at an ergonomically correct height on to a buffer table.

After the pressing unit, sensitive products can also be transported separately (without being shingled) to the magazine and stacked individually on top of each other .

Quality control checks can be made any time with a press of a button, even at high speed. The swivel terminal allows operation from any side of the machine. The pressing rollers can be opened and adjusted pneumatically. The pressing rollers adjust automatically by inserting the product thickness under the adjustment caliper.

Standard Equipment

Automatic format recognition and waste sheet ejection for continuous production without bad sheets in the pile
Selective waste sheet ejection for fold monitoring when production is running
Pressing unit can be opened pneutatically so that the pressing rollers can be cleaned and double sheets can be removed quickly and easily
With pre-press and main pressing rollers having up to 3.5t of pressing force to neatly press out the product without creasing.
Various operating modes for shaft infeed: shingled stream for reliable processing of the high performance sector or single sheet mode for processing sensitive products.
Quick set-up mode through semi-automatic set-up without tools to limit set-up time to a few minutes and eliminate operator error.
Product stability device for reliably processing difficult, uneven and thin products
Stacking level compensation for products which spread out heavily at the binding edge, e.g. to optimise pile formation at a saddle stitcher.
Jogging device with shape jogger in order to be able to knock-up large piles of uneven product to form precise edges.
Automatic pile transport to the buffer zone to allow the operator quick access to the piles.
Large format range min 90mm infeed width x 120mm infeed length, max. machine width x 330mm
Product output to the left or right (the machine identifies this automatically) !
Suitable for inline processing (automatic transfer of the pile possible e.g. to shrink-wrap tunnels or inline book-on-demand lines.
Pile removal, which is ergonimic and kind to the joints for fatigue-free operation even at full running speed.
Set-up for multiple up-work.
Rotating operating controls
for operating the machine from all sides.
Mobile can be used for a quick changeover, e.g. from folding machine to saddle stitcher.
